Importance Of Pin Header And Female Header Plating

Connector pins refer to the contacts inserted in the insulation. Different arrangement of contacts can directly make the performance of connector different. At the same time, the plating of pin header and female header is also very important.

 

When the plating thickness of contacts increases, the resistance will increase rapidly, and then the film layer will become a poor conductor. Moreover, the film layer of connectors will undergo mechanical breakdown under high contact pressure, or electrical breakdown under high current and high voltage. Therefore, it is not suitable to increase plating thickness during electroplating connectors.

 

The conductor resistance index of the pin header and female header connector refers to the contact resistance of contacts, which mainly includes contact resistance and conductor resistance. And when the conductor resistance is small, the conductor resistance in the circuit is the contact resistance.

In the small-signal circuit of pin and female header connectors, it is necessary to pay attention to the required conditions for the given contact resistance index to be tested, because the contact surface of the pin and female connectors will be accompanied by oxide layers, oil stains or other debris. Otherwise, film resistance will be generated on the surface of contacts of connectors, which will damage connectors.
